Firstly, I have yet to scale a fish with this fish scaler. But it is ready in my tackle bucket for when the occasion arises. Soon, I hope. I have been using a fishing knife with a scaler on the blunt side for over 40 years. It works but not easily & can damage the flesh. I read the reviews left by Purchasers & I have no doubt that my purchase has been a wise one & that the scaler will perform just as well as the glowing reviews it has been given. It is well-made, sturdy & easily maintained.
